Ahead of facing Newcastle Falcons this week, Will Addison has said that it is the side’s determination to succeed that has seen them turn a corner in recent weeks.
Sale Sharks have now won their previous three games against Scarelts, Cardiff Blues and Harlequins, and they now prepare for a return to Premiership action.
The Falcons travel to the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night, sitting in ninth place, as the Sharks look to make ground on them from tenth.
“Each defeat just made us more motivated to turn it around,” said Addison, speaking of his side’s poor form over the turn of the year.
“There was some unluckiness at times but it seems like we’re starting to get the bounce of the ball our way now. Our determination helped turn things around and now we’re picking up those wins.”
But Newcastle are a side much improved in recent years, and Addison is wary of the dangers they can pose Sale.
“They’re building year on year, and they’ve adopted an attacking style of play which they have the artillery to implement now, with Vereniki Goneva and Sinoti Sinoti on the wings,” he said.
“When you get to this end of the season every game is the biggest one yet, no matter what you’re fighting for. The next game is always the biggest and that’s certainly the case for us.”
Having narrowly missed out on an Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-final, the Sharks now solely play in the Premiership between now and the end of the season as they look to turn their fortunes around.
When asked if his side will be looking over their shoulder at Worcester Warriors and Bristol, or focussing on making ground on teams above, the 24-year-old insisted that the league table was not playing on his mind.
“It sounds cliché but you have to take every game as it come. You get to Sunday night and then see what it’s done to the table, and go again Monday.
“We’re just looking for a home win, which is massively important for us, then on Sunday we’ll have a look at where it leaves us.”
