Andrei Ostrikov has called on the squad to maintain a strong mentality for their match against play-off chasing Leicester Tigers this weekend.
Sale Sharks travel to Welford Road on Saturday following three consecutive high-scoring games as they look to finish as high up the table as possible.
“It’s always tough to go to Welford Road and we expect a very tough competition, especially in the forwards,” said Ostrikov.
“We have to have a strong mentality going there, because if you don’t you will come away disappointed. We have to be switched on and play our best rugby.
“The most important thing will be our set piece, but we are doing well in that area at the moment so hopefully we can continue that against Leicester.”
Having returned from an injury that kept him sidelined for several weeks, Ostrikov has come back to play a key part in the past three games.
As we come towards the end of the season with two games remaining, he admits he is just happy to be back out on the pitch.
“I’m just happy to be participating in the last three games. We played well against Gloucester, Worcester and Exeter but we just messed up a few things,” he explained.
“We’re not playing well in defence at the moment but we’re playing very well in attack. Hopefully in these last two games we will improve our defence and finish with two big performances.”
The 29-year-old Russian recently signed a new contract to extend his stay at the club until 2019, and says he is looking forward to the future.
“I’m very happy to sign this new deal. I’ve been here for a long time so I’m glad to stay for another two seasons because I believe we can achieve big results with this squad over that period.
“I believe we can build something special here.
